The Digg comments here are full of complete fail. The article was a bit stale and I disagree with all but one of those players... Geovanni to Hull City for free would be well above Deco to Chelsea for £8,000,000 for example. Don't people realise Deco is over-rated?

These people do have prescriptions for legal painkillers...in their states. The federal government just disagrees that marijuana is a legal painkiller.
People do actually drive their scooters on long road trips :) You should be able to keep up with traffic on a 250cc-500cc scooter.

It's not going to be something that happens overnight. It will be a slow transition, and the power industry will adapt accordingly. It's not like people are going to rush out to buy electric cars. There have to be enough outlets to fuel their transportation lifestyle. Likewise, it's not likely that outlets and charging stations are going to start popping up in parking lots unless a lot of people have electric cars. It'll build up slowly. If this happens at the same time as new energy movements develop, like the new Texas wind initiative, then this could be a comprehensive solution to our energy crisis. Economics, however, will be the (notoriously slow) driver for this sort of change, and all of this also rests on what gas prices do. It will be interesting to watch, but it's going to be observed over decades, not overnight.
